Welcome to our classroom! My name is Angelique and I am a K-8 autism teacher at Horizon School. I am very excited to be working with your child and your family. We, as a team, will help your child make progress in both their social and academic life.
I have my Masters in Education from Northern Arizona University and my Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from Park University. I've been working in the field of autism since 2004 and absolutely love working with this population. In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I am Horizon's A-Team Lead teacher; Horizon's cadre monitor ensuring special education paperwork adheres to district, state, and federal compliance; GESD's A-Team co-facilitator ; second year special education induction coach (mentor teacher); and one of three of GESD's CPI (crisis prevention intervention) instructors. |
Structured Teach ModelHorizon uses the Structured Teach Model which utilizes visual and physical structures, schedules and routines, as well as work systems as the foundation of our program.

Social Skills
Teaching social skills is critical to people on the autism spectrum. In our program, social skills are facilitated by an adult and taught in a real life situation as well as structured settings. We utilize programming from Pivotal Response Training.

AcademicsOur curriculum uses Arizona's College and Career Ready Standards based on common core standards. We supplement all of our programming to meet the individual needs of each student.
